This is a Turkey themed craftivity idea meant as a companion to the Expanding Expression Tool by Sarah L. Smith. You can find more info on the EET at expandingexpression.com
There is a fair amount of prep involved in this activity. See picture of completed project in thumbnail. A template for turkey body and feather are included in the download but you could easily make your own in the same amount of time.
-Print and cut out the attached template if desired (pg 2)
-Use templates to trace turkey bodies and feathers from appropriately colored construction paper using the EET as guidance. To cut multiple feathers, fold construction paper accordion style before tracing and cutting feathers.
-Using the EET, write descriptions on feathers and attach to turkey body. Add an eye and question mark to one white feather and the orange feather. Students can add a face to their turkey.
Optional: After completing the craft, have students write their description in paragraph form, or draft one together as a group (example pictured).
