EETCHY is a multi-sensory approach for improved oral and written language that we use in writing at my school. It is taught by using a caterpillar friend who teaches students different ways to describe an object or an event. The way it is taught is my using the words below and asking the questions it displays on the circles I made.
What does it look like?
What is it made of?
What else do I know?
What can you do with this product?
You can place these across the top of your board, so students could use them to refer to when writing.
You can put them on rings and give out personal sets to students who have trouble with recalling information when they write.
You can give the class a topic, place them in groups with an assigned circle, and have the group answer the questions. Come together, share what they have written, and create a class writing piece.
