Addition and Subtraction Fluency K.OA.5
Use these fluency pages for independent practice, homework or fluency drills. OR……Try this fun fluency activity!
( I did this with my learners today and they had a blast! )
After we read our news magazine about a hatching chick, I presented the kids with these three sheets in a packet. I showed them the first picture and asked them what would happen next. They knew a baby chick would come out! I told them that they would have to get all of the answers right on the first page before the little chick could come out. Once they got the answers all correct (I would circle incorrect answers for them to fix), they got to turn to the next page and work to complete them all correctly……to dry him off!
On the third page (which we actually did in a separate sitting after reviewing our strategy of drawing circles and Xing them out to subtract), we did the last page. When each learner got all of the answers correct on the last page, they got to “PEEP! PEEP!” like a baby chick. I can’t believe how much fun they had with this! Early finishers had time to color while their friends finished up.
