Understanding and using euphemisms and other figures of speech is a staple of ELA curriculum, but students, especially English learners, tend to struggle with these abstract concepts. Engage your students in writing using euphemisms with this worksheet! Students complete the chart by drawing a picture of what each euphemism means. The chart includes 12 different euphemisms, with the first one filled in as an example. My EL students LOVE to draw, and activities like this really boost their confidence with the ELA content. This activity is a great followup to my Euphemisms Slides for Class Discussion.
(Directions are printed in both English and Spanish. If your English learners speak other languages, make a copy of the document and replace the Spanish directions with directions in their language for extra clarity.)
