By popular demand--VOLUME 2 of the ELA reading assessment snapshots!
Measure the progress and improve the learning of your secondary ELA students with this reading assessment package that assesses them by each individual Common Core standard!
For each CCSS literature and informational text standard, this package includes a short reading passage and several questions assessing students’ proficiency for that particular standard. Thus, you can accurately measure student progress with each standard, identify areas of struggle, and provide targeted practice opportunities where they need them most—all while preparing your students for their required standardized tests.
There are countless ways you can use these assessments in your classroom, including:
• Pre-tests/baseline assessment
• Post-tests/formative assessment
• Practice work
• Standardized test prep
• Bell Work
• Exit Tickets/Summary Activities
• Skill review
Readings are at a rigor level appropriate for high school or advanced middle school students. Passages include public domain works as well excerpts from a variety of authors such as Kate Chopin, Walt Whitman, Langston Hughes, Anne Sexton, Shakespeare, Frederick Douglass, Susan B. Anthony, Abraham Lincoln and more.
The snapshot assessments are provided as both editable Word documents as well as PDFs, just in case there are any technical issues due to software versions.
The package will allow you to identify skills that need review and the students who need the most support, then shape your instruction as needed--all while helping your students feel confident and prepared rather than stressed-out on exam day!
