When you empower your students with the skills to find their own answers to the important questions of the 21st Century, they will be on their way to becoming life-long leaners who take on the challenges that will face them in their lives.

This is a growing bundle. What that means is that if you buy it at the current price, you will get all of the future additions for free. With poetry close reading lessons, TED Talks, critical thinking activities, primary source activities, creative writing activities, and inquiry based task cards, these thematic units have so much to offer.

For now, you will get all of the following resources:

Social Media Literacy | Critical Thinking Activities & Skills | Fake News (normally priced at $17.97)

Want to teach your students how to stop the spread of fake news on social media but don't have the time to develop a lesson plan on this new and ever-developing topic?

Included in this resource is everything your students need to know about fake news and the new media literacy. The two-week lesson plans included here will take students through the process of identifying what they know, understanding the impact of fake news and viral sharing on the real world, looking at the way that quality journalism is constructed, and learning what they need to know to be responsible consumers of media.

By working through close readings and discussion questions, and by engaging in creative writing exercises, your students will gain a greater understanding of the what it means to leave a homeland behind in search of “the golden door” of the United States. All of the texts studied in this unit deal with the problems of immigrants today. I have spent hours finding the most engaging writing on the topic so that your students will care about lives that are probably very different than their own.

Salem Witch Trials Unit | Non-Fiction Paired Texts | Poetry Close Reading (normally priced at $12.91)

This thematic unit on the Salem Witch Trials will engage your students to think about the bigger themes of colonial and Puritan America. From their world view to their religious beliefs to their daily life, the people of the early colonial period lived lives very different from those of contemporary Americans. The texts included in this unit will give students a glimpse into those lives. Three of the pieces included in this resource were written during the time period, and two are contemporary writing on the events of the witch trials in Salem. The texts included in this bundle can be used to introduce themes of The Crucible or as a way of wrapping up a unit on the play. The eight day unit would also make a great stand alone unit to begin a chronological study of American literature.
