This is a two page exit slip designed to be used after reading a fiction story. I used it with more than one chapter book. It helps students see the structure of the story. It could be used as a quiz, or as an activity to be completed throughout reading the story. I haven't used it with a picture book, but it could work with many of those also.
Reading Exit Slips
Common Core: Literature 5.1, 5.2, 5.5, & 5.6 (Focus on Fiction Stories)
R-Literature 5.1: I can quote the text accurately when explaining what it says and drawing inferences.
R-Literature 5.2: I can determine the theme of a story from details in the text including how the characters respond to challenges.
R-Literature 5.5: I can explain how a series of paragraphs or chapters fit together to provide the overall structure of a story or passage.
R-Literature 5.6: I can explain how a narrator, or speaker’s, point-of-view influences how events are described.
