This lesson (Powerpoint/Google Slides) is a condensed, teacher-friendly version of that seen on engageny.org. This follows the suggested lesson sequence. This lesson includes lesson targets, the "notice and wonder" step that analyzes the structure, meaning, and vocabulary in the third stanza of Rudyard Kipling's "If." It also includes the lesson step that helps students think about a poem listened to versus a poem read, and it guides them (venn diagram) in comparing the two. The exit ticket and assignment are included as well.
A link (youtube) is also included that will allow students to listen to (watch if you choose) the poem "If." Just fast-forward to the third stanza. Actor Michael Caine reads this version.
