Are you planning on doing an independent novel study with your class? Do you want a fun way to have the students showcase their book better than a conventional "book report"? I got the resource for you!
This product contains an independent novel study for students to do. For the project, the students will create a "Literacy Fair" project. What is a literacy fair? A literacy fair is very similar to our conventional science fair but is done using books instead of science!
Watch in awe as your students read through their novel using the reading comprehension worksheets and create beautiful poster boards and presentations for the judges on the "Literacy Fair" day.
Book out your library and have a wonderful morning sharing books and a love for reading with the school and community members!
This project is an engaging way for students to read their own personal novel.
*Important! This product does not include anything with how the students are to choose their own books. Some piece of advice, book a lot of time in the library and have students try different books of their own interests. Remind students that they are allowed to start with a new book but make sure you set a deadline as to when the students MUST have a book they are committed to for the literacy fair. This is an important step in ensuring the independent novel study goes well. Also, reading comprehension sheets/chapter summaries are provided in the product; however, this project allows for a lot of adaptation and there are plenty of free online reading comprehension sheets/chapter summaries that may work better for your class! I hope you give mine a shot! *
