This calendar and subsequent project is a great way for students to track how much they are reading outside of the classroom setting, as well as work on their comprehension skills to put together a project after the reading is complete. This is also an effective tool that can help teachers discover student genre interests, support parental communication, as well as build on students' presentation skills.
The calendars would be given out the first day of the month, then due on the last day of the month (along with the project). The goal is for each student to read a novel per month, but this can be done at the teacher's discretion. Students can present their novels to their classmates and the teacher can display their work afterwards.
