-READING TASK CARDS RECORDING SHEET
Have your students needed more space to answer questions that required a longer/open-ended response when completing reading task cards? Well, this recording sheet will help! My own students have used this answer recording sheet with great success.
This graphic organizer will help your students to summarize any story. It includes the basic parts of any story:
SETTING (WHERE & WHEN)
-CHARACTER TRAIT GRAPHIC ORGANIZER
This graphic organizer provides each student with the opportunity to write a character trait that describes himself/herself. It has been a great way to begin a unit on character traits before delving into text-based activities. Each student must come up with 3 pieces of “Me Evidence” (information about himself or herself that proves the character trait). “Me Evidence” is similar to the idea of text evidence and can be a nice way to lead into using text evidence in the future.
-ASK AND ANSWER QUESTIONS TEMPLATE
This is a template that can be used with any text.
*Suggestions for Use:
Day 1- Each student has a chance to be a Question Author. The Question Author will read the text and then write questions using the provided question words.
Day 2- Each student then has a chance to be a Question Answerer. Students will switch papers with a partner and answer the questions written on Day 1 by a Question Author.
-CENTRAL MESSAGE OF A FABLE RESPONSE
Students will find the central message of any fable. Then, they will formulate a written response telling the central message and proving how they know they chose a good central message. In their response, they will need to include an introduction, text evidence, a conclusion, and correct conventions.
-CLASS BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS FORM
This form is a place where students can record books that they have read and enjoyed. It is a running list that can be kept all year long. I keep it on a clipboard in the classroom library. That way, when a student is unsure of what book to read next, he/she can grab this list of book recommendations. It has truly added to fostering the love of reading in my classroom.
-ENDING MARK HUNT
Your students will love this “hunt” for periods, question marks, and exclamation points while looking through a text! Then, they will have a chance to “show what they know” by writing sentences of their own, including these ending marks. This graphic organizer can be used with any text! Fantastic for the emphasis on conventions in the Common Core!
