This 16-slide powerpoint presents a comprehensive overview of the New York State Common Core ELA Regents. It includes specific breakdowns of the tips/best practices for students to take each part of the exam, such as how to effectively annotate for the writing portions of the exam and how to create quick and effective outline for the argument essay. It also includes a pacing chart for students to memorize, so that they can appropriately pace themselves during the exam.
These are best practices that I have used in my classroom over the past four years in which this exam has been in existence. These are strategies that WORK with students of all academic levels. It is presented in Powerpoint format, so that a teacher can simply display this presentation to his/her students. After training my students throughout the year of this exam, I use this on the last day of class to refresh their memories about best practices on the exam. The specific slides for each part of the exam can also be used by a teacher throughout the school year when introducing students to each part of the exam.
