The Wordy Owl

Thank you so much for purchasing my resource. This is the first part of what is going to ultimately be a bundle set.
This assesses the following standards:
RI.1.2 RL.1.2
RI.1.3 RL.1.3
Included in this resource is a mini assessment and full unit assessment as well as the answer keys. You can use the mini assessment to differentiate your instruction and check on the progress of your students through the standards assessed.
The test questions were designed according to the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) Test Specifications for Fourth Grade ELA. Florida follows the Florida Standards which are very closely aligned to Common Core. This makes the assessment similar to other Common Core assessments and a valuable resource for the classroom.
The grading is done on a standards-based scale. There are several different standards-based scales however, the following is and example of how I grade:
0/1 “Unrated”- They did not get any questions correct. This means they didn’t understand the standard and will need to be retaught
1/1 “Emerging” – They somewhat understood the standard but will need remediation
2/3“Approaching”- They mostly understand the standard but may require a quick review
3/3“Meeting” – They have successfully mastered the standard and can teach it to someone else.
3/3“Exceeding”- This rating can only be given to a student who has met the standard on two different assessments. When they can show they have mastered the standard twice you score them as exceeding the standard. This rating can be used on the unit assessment.
This resource includes:
*teacher notes
*mini assessment with 2 small grade level passages and six questions that assess 3 different standards.
*unit assessment with 2 full grade level passages and 12 questions that assess 4 different standards
