Welcome to the collection of ELA Stories: 50 Single-Page Tales of Wisdom
Many of the stories in this collection are adaptations of Aesop’s Fables, while others have been culled from countries and cultures around the world. The central theme of the collection can be best summed up in one word: integrity. Students will read of situations where wrongdoing is confronted, or integrity is highlighted. Some stories are funny, while others are sad, but they contain an important message that children need to hear.
Each story is exactly one page in length and is followed by eight questions that use the who/what/when/where/why/how format. A third page of answers to the questions is provided for each story. Students should always be expected to write their answers in complete sentences.
The stories can be used in the following ways:
-They can provide students with practice in reading aloud;
-The stories and questions can be given as homework or
-They can be used as springboards to help start the discussion of ethical issues;
-The questions can provide students with ample practice in writing in complete sentences.
I sincerely hope that ELA Stories: 50 Single-Page Tales of Wisdom will become a much-used ELA resource within your classroom.
