This ELA test prep item helps students prepare to answer multiple-choice questions about a piece of literature. Specifically, it is designed to help students prepare for the literature standards on the fifth grade TCAP ELA test. The questions require students to identify story elements, interpret the main incidents of a plot, recognize first person point of view, and identify the effect of sound. To use this product, provide the students with a copy the “Eleven” text and the “Eleven” puzzle. Direct students to read the questions and the passage. Then, pass out the answer cards. These can be cut ahead of time, or students may cut them. Students will read each question, choose the best answer, and cover the question with the answer card that matches the chosen answer. In addition, students may also record their answers on the answer sheet. Once students have completely covered the puzzle, they can use the answer key to check their answers. If they are using the answer sheet, they can self-assess their final answers to determine which skills they need to keeping practicing.
