Differentiated Test Prep with Choice Boards/Menus!
When thinking about test prep for ELA, I wanted to do things differently. I decided that we could review main idea, compare & contrast, and cause & effect through the use of the book Miss Rumphius.
To “hook” my students, I will show them the video of the book first. Then we will read and analyze the text to complete the choice board activities and thus review these critical reading skills!
★ interactive notebook foldables for each reading skill
★ drawing activities for each reading skill with outlines/frames
★ links to games to play on Quia.com for each reading skill
★ summary of the book and link to the video of the book
★ photos of completed activities with possible answers
★ exit tickets (for online activities)
With choice boards/menus, all students do not have to do the same things at the same time. Plus you can adjust the number of assignments to suit individual student needs. The best part is that instead of rolling their eyes and groaning, the students will be much more engaged thanks to having a choice! :)
Let's keep in touch!
