This is a sampler pack of my Text Dependent Analysis Questions resource.
HOW TO USE:
These task cards were created as a way to practice text dependent responses. The cards apply to many different texts and are generic so you can use as you read article, passages, novels, dramas, poems, etc.
HOW THE CARDS ARE ORGANIZED:
As you can see, the task cards have different colored boxes. They are color coded for easier use.
The BLUE cards mostly address Narrative Elements.
The GREEN cards mostly address Literary Devices.
The ORANGE cards mostly address Text Structures.
The PURPLE cards address paired texts.
I have found these cards useful as we tackle close reading and text-dependent responses in my middle school reading room. After reading a story in our anthology, passage in our test-prep books, or article in a Scholastic Scope magazine, I pull one of these questions that relates the most to what we have read. Toward the beginning of the year, we are completing these as a ‘we do.’ Toward mid-year students are completing these independently (or as I refer to it as y’all do it) and we discuss answers. Please stress to your students that they are to answer ALL parts of the question, especially citing text evidence.
