This "I Have... Who has..?" loop activity is an engaging way to reinforce important CCSS English Language Arts terms used in class discussions, written assignments, and standardized tests.
This download includes two (2) vocabulary handouts, each with an alphabetized list of twenty commonly-used English Language Arts terms, forty (40) words in all.
* ELEMENTS OF FICTION (plot, character, conflict, theme, and setting),
* THREE TYPES OF WRITING (opinion, informational, and narrative),
* WRITING PROCESS (prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing), and
* many other commonly used words (brainstorm, character, conflict, dialogue, figurative language, genre, point of view, topic, transition, etc.)
Students can use the “I have… Who has…?” game cards in many different ways, with or without their vocabulary handouts. It can be played whole class, or in small groups. Pairs of students could also cooperatively assemble a deck in the correct order.
Each time they play, students increase their fluency with these frequently-used CCSS ELA words.
Preparation is easy! Print the cards, and then cut them apart. They can be printed in color or B&W, on colored or white paper, and on regular or card stock paper. Use as is, or laminate for repeated use. Whatever you do, you'll use less paper than you would making a single worksheet for each child, and the students will have a lot more fun!
