ELD lesson that extends understanding and comprehension about the third grade story "The Children of Roxaboxen" from 3rd grade Open Court Reading (OCR). Incorporates targeted direct instruction, student talk, hands-on activity, and partner/small group work.
3rd page is a sample venn diagram that can be used. I had my third graders make and label their own venn diagrams on large sheets of construction paper, and they loved producing their graphic organizers from scratch and taking charge.
