This series of ELEMENTARY FRENCH vocabulary learning display and design posters with a whole-group practice & quiz introduces children to 20 scrumptious fruits and vegetables from the very beginning of their learning. Children familiarize themselves with both the 'look' of FRENCH words, and how their sounds are represented in the written form.
The resource provides children with multi-skill learning opportunities: reading, spelling, listening, speaking and pronunciation, as well as engaging with basic writing to develop their confidence in writing in FRENCH, at the same time that they are learning about the food and healthy eating in other areas of the curriculum.
ENSEMBLE UN features 10 fruits and 10 vegetables focusing on the masculine and feminine article, both singular and plural, which is a great opportunity to begin to compare FRENCH to ENGLISH. It doesn't matter if some of the words don't feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the learning display creates a lovely FRENCH feel to your classroom and school, providing the whole community daily opportunities to engage with FRENCH, and promoting FRENCH as a living language, which features in the everyday life of your school.
LET'S GET CREATIVE!
Children enjoy honing their artistic and design skills by selecting their favorite fruit or vegetable - or both! - to color and decorate, with the additional challenge of writing the correct FRENCH words/genders in their best handwriting. Children also love to see their work celebrated on classroom and corridor walls for everyone in the school community to enjoy too!
The resource comprises 3 non-editable files: the learning display & design posters; the whole-group presentation/quiz, and a pdf file of the quiz which you’ll be able to use on a tablet or similar device if you are homeschooling.
