This mini-pack of games/flashcards with writing activities features 20 animals, fish, birds and buggies, and really does help to create a lively language learning environment for beginning learners of SPANISH. The pack provides multi-skill learning opportunities: listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and writing, with students working and learning independently of the teacher.
The nouns featured are:
The pack focuses on the definite article, and it doesn't matter if any of the nouns don't feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games and writing activities are a great way of encouraging your learners to engage with SPANISH, use a range of skills, and to develop confidence about working with SPANISH.
There are 3 levels of challenge in the writing activity booklet:
1. CHILLOUT CHALLENGE: writing from SPANISH to English
2. CHAMPION CHALLENGE: writing in SPANISH from an English
3. SUPER-CHARGED CHALLENGE: switching in random order
from SPANISH to English, which really does help to embed new
vocabulary successfully, and encourage accurate spelling
The resource comprises 3 non-editable files:
The game/mini-flashcards, including the WHO AM I? matching cards and Quiz Card template, with a SPANISH-themed backing on alternate pages if you have a color printer with a double-sided printing function
The same set as FILE 1, but with no backing
The Reference, Recall and Write activity booklet, with EIGHT writing activities, and two bilingual reference lists, one from SPANISH to English, the second from English to SPANISH.
The booklet also includes a NOTES AND NEXT STEPS for students to complete over a period of time as they reflect on their learning and skills development, thinking about what they might reasonably do to progress. I've found that even very young learners really do enjoy doing and discussing this particular activity.
The pack is a great complementary resource to my Learning Display and Design Poster with Practice and Quiz presentation, which you can have a look at here:
