Personal Pamphlet Introduction
This is a lesson plan for a writing activity intended for ESL students or third to fifth grade elementary level students. Some of my colleagues have used it in Special Education at the high school level as well. Students write a brochure about themselves. The brochure contains information related to personal and family information, hobbies and interests, things they do and dont like, the person they admire most, and other interesting topics. There are nine topics in all.
Students work in pairs and small groups. It is an excellent first writing activity as it helps students to learn how to organize information while writing about their most familiar interesting topic, themselves. I have also included pictures of actual student work to give a little more focus.
I have also included another model writing activity which could be used as an introduction to this lesson where students write about their families. I think you and your students will enjoy both activities.
