This lesson plan is specifically designed for classroom teachers who have ESL/ELL students that are new to the U.S., or have been here less than two years and still need extra support (picture, songs, movement etc.) to show understanding of Social Studies content. There are many activities that can be done independently while teaching the rest of the class. This lesson covers the content for European exploration. You will find content material for note cards, a song, a map activity, study guides, tests, and answer keys. There are two levels of language development for the study guides and tests. At this stage in their language development, the ESL/ELL students are learning basic vocabulary. Parts of this lesson can also be beneficial for regular education students.
