Are your 1st grade English language learners going to take the ELPAC? This resource is to help them prepare for the reading portion of the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California. They can get used to the format of the assessment, as well as practice the skills they need to be successful on the assessment.
There are 4 parts of the speaking ELPAC domain:
#1 Students talk about a school scene
#2 Students pick an opinion and support it
#3 Students summarize a narrative
#4 Students summarize an academic presentation
The speaking domain includes:
-5 school-themed scenes with 6 comprehension questions per scene (same as kindergarten)
-5 opinion questions with pictures (same idea, but different practice questions than the kindergarten assessment)
-5 narratives with 4 picture scenes for each narrative
-5 academic presentations with 2 pictures to go along with the presentation
I hope these help your 1st grade ELLs prepare for their assessment!
