As teachers, we all want our ELD students to thrive and succeed. For better or worse, doing well on the ELPAC is a part of this goal. So, I created these practice activities for the speaking section of the ELPAC. They are based on the released questions and formatted how students will hear the questions on the test. All five sections of the speaking test are included (Talk about a Scene, Speech Functions, Support an Opinion, Present and Discuss Information, and Summarize an Academic Presentation.)
The file includes everything you will need to lead your class in practicing for the speaking test. There is a teacher guide in PDF form, that tells you exactly what to say. There is also a link to a Google Slides Presentation for your students to view as you practice. This includes images/diagrams where necessary, as well as "testing tips" for each section.
I had my students do this as a pair-share activity, and then asked for volunteers to share answers out loud, as it wasn't feasible for me to do one-on-one practice with every student.
The questions are based on the released questions for grades 6-8, however there is a lot of overlap for grades 9-10, so it would work well for those students too. This would be great as a sub plan, homework, warm-ups, or as intensive test prep in the classroom.
