✐ This product is a NO PREP - SELF CHECKING activity that engage students in evaluating a "Finite Geometric Series". There are 2 options (with same set of questions) available in this EMOJI.

The two options are:

☑ Option 1: students have to use the geometric sequence explicit formula to find "n - number of terms"

☑ Option 2: "n - number of terms" is always given

There are 5 different models illustrated in this activity and students have to utilize the information given to find the Arithmetic Series.

In this activity students will be given:

☑ A List of terms of an Geometric Sequence (2 Questions)

☑ The first term, the common difference, and number of terms (3 Questions)

☑ The first term, the last term (or "n" in the second option), and number of terms (2 Questions)

☑ The first few terms of the Geometric Sequence and number of terms (3 Questions)

☑ The first few terms of the Geometric Sequence and the last term (2 Questions)

Students will work with sequences that are:

☑ Integers

Students should feel comfortable with:

☑ Using the Explicit Formula of an Arithmetic Sequence: an = a1 * (r)^(n-1) to find number of terms (in OPTION 1)

☑ Using the formula for evaluating Finite Geometric Series: Sn = (a₁ *(1 − r^n))/(1 − r)

☑ Using the exponents property: if a^n = a^m, then n = m

Students would need to solve the mystery Emoji by following the color key.

My students are fascinated with an additional coloring option that I have included where they could pick their own colors. They have become very very creative. I am including this option in this emoji and I truly hope that your kids will love it as much as mine have.
