activity that engage students in "Writing a Quadratic Equation given the Vertex and a Point."
. Equations will be written in Vertex Form
. Students will work with 12 Questions where the vertex and a random point on the graph is provided. Students would need to be able to use the Vertex Form of Quadratic Functions and substitute the vertex and the point to get the value of "a". Then, substitute the vertex and "a" back into the vertex form for the final answer. The vertex or/and point may be of the following format:
☑ Coordinates of the vertex and point are all integers
☑ the "x" or "y" coordinate of the vertex maybe a zero
☑ the "x" or "y" coordinate of the point maybe a zero
The final answers are given using the vertex form and maybe one of the followings where "a" maybe an integer or a fraction:
☑ y = a(x - h)² + k
☑ y = a(x - h)², or
☑ y = ax² + k
☑ y = x²
Students would need to solve the mystery Emojis by following the color key.
