ENTREPRENEURSHIP - Tip #11: "Networking & Professional Organizations" includes information on how to network with other professionals and other adults within the community, creating an elevator speech, how to promote your business and yourself to others, and it includes several organizations (in and out of school) as to where to begin meeting other professionals and those with the same interests. We offer fill-in forms in our store for every tip/chapter should you wish to purchase it. This Tip (Chapter) is also included in the affordable "12 Tips" BUNDLE booklet which is also available here in our store on TpT.
This part includes a comprehensive overview and list of local business professional organizations for the new business owner to consider for networking purposes and student clubs/organizations available within the school community. Also included are helpful hints for the new business owner to make contacts through networking, creating an elevator speech, suggestions of other contact information, and a list of professional and service organizations. Other contact avenues include CTE, student council, and other student organizations that are available for students with like interests.
What does networking mean? Why should YOU network your business? How do YOU create the business connections that are important for your business? What is an elevator speech?
As you become more proficient at running your own business, establishing relationships with experienced business people and potential customers is vital. Networking is one of the first steps you will take in becoming a credible business owner. One of the most cost-effective ways to network is to attend local mixer events where you meet business professionals in your community. There are many local networking groups that you can visit and join, such as: Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau, Leads Groups, etc.
The amount of time spent in teaching each component of the "12 Tips" booklet (including the worksheets) depends upon how the teacher intends to incorporate this resource into their coursework, whether or not they are using only certain segments of the complete "12 Tips" booklet (the BUNDLED version), the ages/grades of their students, and the amount of time they have available. Three to four weeks for the BUNDLED version (when used as the primary source) is not unreasonable.
