PART 2 - ANCIENT EGYPTIAN RULERS
This download includes both the graphic organizer handout, and the 27-slide PowerPoint with images, graphics, information, video links and more. For over 3,000 years, Ancient Egypt thrived under the control of a single ruler called a pharaoh. Egyptians believed in the divine right of kings, the idea that it was the will of the gods that each pharaoh came to rule. Similar to Chinese dynasties, each Egyptian pharaoh was from a dynasty or “royal family”. Often these dynasties ended or were overthrown by the next dynasty. Although there are over 170 pharaohs from 33 different dynasties, this series of slides will highlight ten well-known figures. The ten figures include: Narmer (Menes), Khufu, Khafre, Amenhotep I, Hatshepsut, Thutmose III, Tutankhamen, Ramesses II, Nectanebo II, Cleopatra VII
PART 3 - EGYPT "GUESS THE ARTIFACT" GAME
This download includes an engaging 20-slide PowerPoint that introduces students to a new civilization by revealing pictures of artifacts, then hints, then answers. The last artifact also contains a video link to show even more details about the artifact. Check out the sample download to get an idea. There are higher depth of knowledge (DOK) discussion prompts and higher order thinking questions also provided. This could take anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on how you want to structure the guessing game and discussions.
