My math lessons focus on student engagement and participation. I focus on developing conceptual understanding using manipulatives, specific language and activities. My lesson plans also include differientiated tasks that cater to the varying levels in the classroom.
1) To develop a conceptual understanding of equivalent ratios including part-to-part and part-to-whole comparisons
This lesson can be done with Smarties, buttons, Cuisenaire Rods, pattern blocks, or any other hands-on materials that can be sorted by size, colour, shape etc. It can also be done pictorially using coloured pencils or different shapes (ex: draw circles and squares, or stars and dots)
