Are you looking for a way to help your ELLs learn English that has rigor and engagement? These 3 Activities will be fun for your students and they will learn vocabulary, context and language.

I use these for my small group intermediate to advanced high students. They can really be used for any student. Once the activities have been introduced, they can be used over and over by the students in partnerships or in stations. The sentence stems are an amazing way for your ELLs to have a deeper understanding of these tough language skills reading comprehension.

Here are the Time Saving Resources in this Purchase:
• CATEGORIES - 84 Category Cards with Category Titles (Wild Animals, Holidays, Aquatic Animals, Community Helpers, Fruit, Vegetables and Settings/Places) Each set has 12 Cards. You also get ideas for use including Sentence Stems for even more Engagement.

• Emotion Cards - 2 Different Sets of Emotion Cards - One set has 9 Cards and the other set has 12 . Some emotions are repeated but the pictures are not the same. I have included 2 sets because I wanted you to have choices on the clip art used.
You get ideas for use including and example text and more sentence stems to go deeper into the text regarding character's feelings with text evidence and personal connections or text to text connections.

• Present and Past Verb Tense Activity - 31 Match and Write Verb Cards that allow students to learn Present Tense Verbs and then change them to the past tense by using the sentence stem Yesterday I.... You will teach the -ed ending as well as special verbs that must be changed entirely. While leaning about verbs, your students will also be gaining new vocabulary. After we complete the cards, I have my students look in their books to see if they can find more past tense verbs.

I have given ideas for these 3 Activities, but have no doubt that teachers will find more great ideas to help their ELLs. The activities are so versatile and lend themselves to all kinds of engaging activities.
