Getting your ESL students to speak can be a challenge! These cards will help spark conversation among your students and even get a few laughs.
There are many ways to use these cards. You can give students one card and have them practice with a partner. They can be used as a warm up activity and are a great way to get students settled in at the beginning of class. They can also be used as writing prompts. In addition, you can have students form a group of four and give each group a whole page. Have students take turns choosing a question to ask the group. Finally, use these as a time filler at the end of class. Choose a question and present it to the entire class. Answer out loud or have them turn to a partner and discuss the question.
Encourage your students to expand beyond the question by asking for additional information.
