This ESL reading activity is made toward ELLs who are at an intermediate or B1 level. Students are enabled to indirectly acquire vocabulary through repetition and context. There is no translation in this activity.
The activity starts with a short text describing Christmas celebrations in three different countries. This is followed with comprehension questions and true / false statements. The student is then guided to use the vocabulary by matching used collocations and then inserting them in sentences. Then they work with the new vocabulary from the text in two more activities. There is then an open ended question for the students, ideal for a writing activity or an in class discussion.
The activity is actually 4 pages long. There are two versions of the activity included in the PDF- one in color and one that is ink-friendly.
