These alphabet/sound recognition cards were designed for early primary and ELL students. The pictures are of things that are in the students' immediate environment or from first taught units of instruction.
A direct instruction script is provided for each letter/sound. They can be copied on the back of each card. These scripts are repetitive in design. An initial lesson format is given to introduce the letter name and the sound the letter makes. A correction script is provided for helping the teacher correct errors in pronunciation. The teacher will find tips for guiding the children with correct teeth, tongue and lip placement. A daily review script is also provided on the same card.
The lessons follow the model, guide, independent teaching format in the direct instruction style. This method has proven to be highly successful. These cards are perfect for early primary, ELL students, and speech and language students. The scripts are easy to read. They are perfect for older ELL students and a peer-teacher to do together.
Laminate these cards and you will use them for many years. Good teaching techniques never go out of style. I have been successfully teaching ELL students with this method for thirty years. They serve as a great phonics foundation for reading skills.
This product comes from a beautiful language development kit. It is a must have for any ESL or early primary classroom!
