This lesson deals with stereotypes. It opens with some clips from Family Guy depicting common stereotypes of the following nationalities: German, Irish, British, Canadian and Italian. I chose these because they were not the nationalities of any of my students. Students discuss the stereotypes and whether they have known anyone from this nationality that fits this stereotype. Then, students work in pairs to find new vocabulary to describe the stereotypes. Answers are shared in class on the board. Students then look at some stereotypes of Americans. What are those stereotypes? Why? What are stereotypes of the nations they come from? Why? The lessons ends with students talking in small groups about stereotypes and why they exist, etc.
