ESL Beginners Lessons: Clothing

Welcome! This is the ninth unit in my newcomer curriculum. The goal is to get your students talking about all things clothing. There is a vocabulary flashcards set with a number of worksheets and activities to support students’ vocabulary learning. Not only will your students master the vocabulary, they will also be introduced to and practice new grammar to continue developing their speaking, writing, and listening skills. 

This unit takes three to four weeks with 80 minute block periods. You can easily adapt it to fit your classroom needs. The digital resources are compatible with Google Classroom.  

The clothing unit reviews the simple future tense and the helping verbs may, can, must, & should. It introduces more ways to talk about the future, using commas in lists, needs to, wants to, & has to, possessive nouns, possessive pronouns, adverbs of frequency, and coordinating adjectives.
