This is the fifth unit I teach with my newcomers. This unit is part of an 11 unit series you can find here. The unit takes 3.5 to 4 weeks. I teach it in nine or ten 80 minute block periods, but it can be adapted to fit your needs. It covers months of the year, seasons, and colors. Students will know how to write the date (American English) and speak it correctly.

This unit reviews the prepositions “at,” “on,” and “in” and the present progressive tense. It introduces ordinal numbers, how to write the date correctly, creating questions using “when,” more ways to use prepositions “on” and “in,” and the future tense. The summative test includes vocabulary and grammar. My previous units introduce any grammar that is reviewed in this unit. In my following units, we continue to review and practice all grammar introduced in this unit as well as add new grammar.
