ESL Data Analysis
It has been proven that using data in instructional decisions can lead to improved student performance. It is just as important to include your students in the conversation.
This worksheet allows students to dive deep into understanding what their language proficiency capabilities actually mean.
This worksheet can be adapted to reflect the scores from the WIDA ACCESS/WAPT/ELDA.
Students should review their scores from the standardized language proficiency test. They can then fill out the numerical score on the sheet and then look at what they CAN do at that proficiency level. WIDA provides can do descriptors for different grade bands for each of the language domains.
Students then can set goals on where they want to go by choosing from the next level on the can do descriptors. Students then reflect on how they can improve their English in and outside of the classroom. This worksheet also allows for the student to reflect on how the teacher can help in that goal.
