These icebreaker activities will get your ESL/ELD class off to a great start - and get your students learning from the get-go!
The activities give students a chance to learn, practice, and review a pair of common, basic structures for questions and answers. Students will begin to develop critical everyday communication skills in English. They will also leave the class session with a few materials and ideas for reinforcing their learning outside of the classroom.
While the lesson is geared toward lower-level students, it can easily be adapted for more advanced English learners. Likewise, the graphic organizer and sentence strips can be used to reinforce any number of structural elements in the English language.
