Speaking in English in front of others can strike terror in the hearts of ESL students, but the best way to conquer a fear of speaking in front of people is to just do it, right? Coming up with lots of different topics off the top of your head is difficult, so keep them going with these impromptu speech topics. Use as ice breakers for the first days of class!
Impromptu Speech Topics:
Have students take turns coming to the front of the class to draw a card and then start speaking on that topic.
✔ 1 page teacher suggestions
✔ Seven pages (28 cards). Each begins with "If..." or "What would you do if..."
✔ Eight pages (32 cards). Each begins with "Tell everyone about..."
✔ Eight pages (32 cards). Each begins with "Would you rather..."
✔ Three pages (12 cards) Each is an action that must be performed.
✔TOTAL: 104 cards
