This is a reported speech worksheet and speaking activity to get ESL students familiar with the concept.
Day 1 starts with notes and practice with said and told. This can be skipped if your students are already familiar with the difference.
Day 2 focuses on writing and listening practice. There is a worksheet that can be done in class, and then students watch a video clip from School of Rock and write their answers in reported speech.
Day 3 has two speaking activities. The first speaking activity is set up for 10 or less students and each student is assigned a name and a piece of juicy gossip. Students circulate and practice introductions and giving their piece of gossip. They can either write their information down on the sheet provided or the class can do the worksheet together based on what they remember. *The gossip is suited best for adult ESL classes and not recommended for teens* The 2nd speaking activity pairs students up and has them write interview questions for a celebrity. Then, they present the mock interview with answers to the class. The class reports back on what the celebrity said.
Day 4: Reported Speech game, Kahoot review and quiz
