This resource includes high interest/low level paired readings. This resource is good for ESL students and special education students. It includes two legends - one from the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee and another from Mount Everest in the Himalayas. Students can compare the geographical features of both regions as well as the details of the ghostly legends (one of benevolent ghosts, the other of ghosts with less than benevolent intent). Students will practice reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The resource includes abundant scaffolding and repletion of the text. Students of all language levels will be able to use the resource to create a three paragraph compare/contrast essay about the two phenomena.
