This book was written because I found that the classroom teachers all needed the same supports from me. They wanted help and materials for new ESL students, they wanted to know how to teach the rest of the class while not leaving out ELL’s, and how to modify materials to make content comprehensible. It wasn’t until I started writing this book that I realized after teaching ESL forever I had developed specialized insights from my experiences. These are the tips and strategies I find most helpful. Some are well known and taught at the University level and some are from genuine trial and error.
My intention in writing this is to help all my English Language Learners have an easier time of adjusting, to help them feel smart, successful, wanted and valued. My goal would be for all teachers that teach our ELL’s to treat them with respect, kindness and most of all to challenge and motivate them do their best. May the tips and strategies in this book help you navigate your students toward remarkable success!
