Esquinas is a GREAT, low-anxiety way to get students of all proficiency levels using the TL in a low pressure, fun activity. This activity can be used successfully even in the first week of Spanish I! The game is essentially about preferences, but the more slides you go through, some include information such as, “Which of these best describes you?”. This activity engages learners visually, kinesthetically, and aurally. Through visuals, the use of cognates, and gestures from the teacher, the students will be practicing authentic usage of the interpretive mood right away. The activity can include presentational and interpersonal communication, as your learners are ready. This updated product now has up to 35 slides for you to use, and the Teacher Tips section has ideas for even more.

This product is created in the landscape orientation because it is intended to facilitate the teacher projecting the slides for the class. If you don’t have access to a (digital) projector, you can still print the (ideally on larger paper), or even just read the options off to the students. Each slide has engaging visuals to support the students’ understanding of the words.
