Product Description
Many students struggle when it comes to homophones, words that sound the same but look differently. Because of this even kids who excel with dictionary skills won't even know which word to look up, especially if it has three or more correct spellings when used correctly in context.
What I have done in this activity is take 100 often used homophones and used certain letters in the words themselves to help students remember which word is the correct spelling.
Here are a few examples of what you will find in the product:
merry- The e is underlined to remind the students that it is based on the e- emotion of e-excitement
marry- All the letters are underlined to jokingly state that M- men A-aren't R-really R-ready Y-yet!
Sun- The U would be underlined to remember that all you have to do is look U-up to see the sun.
son- The O would be underlined so that your students can use it to make a little stick boy being a "son" of a father.
A great extension of this activity would be to have your kids also draw a corresponding picture to go with each correctly spelled and labeled homophone.

This purchase includes two creative ways to test homophones, a five page list of hundreds of homophones to practice spelling with by the way they are spelled, and an editing passage that has homophone problems for every single sentence.
