This is Unit 2 of my Semester 1 full American Literature class. The first unit is the Native American literature unit, which covers Native American myths and a narrative writing assignment.
This unit focuses on the Exploration Narratives of Christopher Columbus, Cabeza de Vaca, William Bradford and the Mayflower Compact primary source analysis. This pdf is complete with readings from each of these authors and worksheets to accompany them. When paired with the videos, the classroom can be flipped by having the students watch the videos at home and complete the homework (the worksheets) in class as group work.
This unit is available as a bundle and can be purchased in my store. The bundle comes with flipped classroom videos, one for each reading. There is also a vocabulary lesson that is the third in my series. The first three vocabulary lessons are review, so supplementary materials are not necessary.
The full unit should take about two weeks to teach, but can be stretched to cover three weeks depending on class time and students. I'm happy to share anything as a Word doc if that is your preference. Just email me through TpT.
