Product Description
4th graders have a lot to learn about Early California! This powerpoint can be used as the starting point for an inquiry based project for students to explore the types of settlements in Early California. It is a high engagement project that can be done individually, in partnerships, or in groups. This project will also encourage students to use many of the Google Apps in order to push their creativity and collaboration skills.

This project is editable, so you can make any adjustments to better fit your needs.

The slides include 3 activities.
Activity One: Learning about the 21 Missions! Students will map the missions and learn a bit about each one of them along the way.

Activity Two: The 4 types of settlements! Students will learn about the 4 types of settlements of Early California- ranchos, pueblos, presidios, and missions. They'll explore the people who lived in each settlement and what their daily lives were like.

Activity Three: Presentation! Students will work collaboratively to create a project that shows what they've learned throughout this project. They will have the opportunity to continue to sharpen their speaking and presentation skills while teaching their classmates about the 4 types of settlements of Early California.
