Description

Early Childhood Literacy Center: Astute Hoot’s Literacy Centers focus on critical early childhood reading readiness skills. These centers incorporate highly motivating animal helpers, hands-on activities, and multiple opportunities for practice. Each animal helper has an individual feature and rhymed poem that is used to teach children a specific, research-based strategy or skill. These activities are designed to be used as supplements to enhance high quality core instruction within the general education classroom and/or explicit, systematic instruction in special education and intervention programs.

This literacy center focuses on Leroy the Letter Lynx. Leroy helps students identify alphabet letters and sounds. In addition to the basic alphabet matching activities provided within the centers, extension alphabet activities are included to differentiate instruction and provide more rigorous learning opportunities as developmentally appropriate. These alphabet literacy center activities are designed for students in preschool through first grade and can be used during whole group, literacy centers, or as independent work.
