Students will be introduced to the world that awaited British discoverers!
This unit on Native Americans is complete with Common Core Standards. It will walk your students through the cultures that had formed prior to European arrival in the Americas with activities and potential PowerPoint discussions. It furthermore has a suggested Word Wall to aid the students investigation.
The first activity involves the students diagramming a Native American village in general terms. The idea is to try and implement as many concepts from the civilizations as possible, and therefore citations from the text are also taught.
The second activity has the students draw from their World History classes to discuss what the Natives in Central and South America would advise as the North American civilizations encountered Europeans. The activity is done in small groups and has a worksheet that scaffolds the writing process for your students.
The PowerPoint slides are complete with suggested discussion points. Furthermore, a revisionist viewpoint is offered with links to mises.org.
