Need a way to engage your fifth graders who finish a task in music class early? This set would be great for your early finishers, whether the entire class is completing a worksheet, students are taking turns being individually assessed, or if students have completed a task during centers. The cards could also be used by the teacher to ask students questions/ have them sing certain songs as they are lined up at the end of class and waiting for their teacher.
This set includes:
*Title page for display, including four cards:
One with just the title, one with "fifth grade," one with "fifth and sixth grade," and one with "sixth grade." I included all of these possibilities in case your third graders are a bit behind in their curriculum, if you teach the concepts in a different order, and/or your students could use the review.
*Critical thinking music cards
: 27 cards are included. Students who finish early could read over each question and answer to themselves or to a friend.
*Song title cards
: 27 common fifth grade song titles are included. Students can sing these inside their heads as they wait for the rest of the class to finish. Great for improving inner hearing! Also includes editable Powerpoint for adding your own text.
*Musical vocabulary cards
: 27 cards are included, with musical terms, pictures of brass instruments, and musical symbols common to a fifth grade curriculum. Cards can be printed so that the term/ picture/ symbol is one side and the definition is on the other; directions are included for printing.
: Eight rhythm cards are included for tam-ti, eight are included for 6/8 rhythms (including dotted quarter, dotted quarter rest, three eighths, and quarter/ eighth), three are included for syncopa (for review), and two are included for tim-ka (for review.) Students can read the cards inside their heads or quietly aloud to a friend.
Eight melodic cards are included for ti, eight are included for low ti, three are included for high do (for review), and two are included for fa (for review.) Students can sing the cards inside their heads or quietly aloud.
*Directions on how to use the set
, as well as how to display the cards in your classroom (directions include information about using a flip-flop holder, as is displayed in one of the thumbnails, as well as how to use metal rings or rubber bands and store in a container)
Please note the thumbnail showing the early finisher set is of my first grade set. The fifth grade set looks very similar, but with blue titles instead of pink, and different cards behind the titles.
